But Dimitrov faces one of his toughest battles yet to get past Federer.
And history is not on his side.
For Federer has NEVER lost to Dimitrov in their six previous meetings.
Furthermore, Dimitrov has managed to win just TWO sets against Federer from those six matches.
It took Dimitrov until his fourth match to claim a set against Federer, during his 6-4 6-7(4) 6-4 defeat at the 2016 Brisbane International.
The pair then met at the Australian Open that year, where Dimitrov lost 6-4 3-6 6-1 6-4.
Roger Federer and Dimitrov last played each other at Wimbledon last year, where the Swiss demolished his last-16 opponent 6-4 6-2 6-4 on the SW19 grass.
Dimitrov made staggering 25 unforced errors that match and double faulted seven times.
