Tom Hardy eyed for big screen adaptation of THIS major video game

The 40-year-old star may be starring in Venom later this year, but his next project could see him move from superheroes to video games.

Sicario 2 director Stefano Sollima is eyeing Hardy and Pine for a film adaptation of the Call of Duty video game series.

Speaking with Metro, he said how much he loved the actors’ work. On Hardy he said: “I mean, I like almost everything [he’s been in].

I’m waiting for his Venom. Even in Mad Max, he was great.”

While on Pine, he added: “He’s tough, but he’s smart and he can have a sense of humour but he can [also] be in such a dramatic role.

“I like when you feel that an actor can play with different nuances and tone because this means they’re a good actor.”

The Call of Duty franchise spans 14 first-person shooter war games to date.

Earlier titles in the franchise were set in World War II, while later ones have explored modern warfare and the future.

Of course Hardy appeared in both Band of Brothers and Black Hawk Down, so is no stranger to war settings.

Meanwhile Stefano isn’t tied down as director yet, but he’s in negotiations to direct the Call of Duty flick.

And presuming he gets the job, Hardy and Pine could be headed to war with him.
