PARIS ATTACK: Knife attacker goes on rampage stabbing six people

The incident began at 11pm local time (10pm GMT) on Tuesday in the downmarket area around Rue Max Dormoy near the Eurostar staton, Gard du Nord, in the city’s 18th arrondissement

Those stabbed were rushed to hospital for treatment to cuts which authorities have described as non-life threatening.

A suspect has been arrested and he was held in police custody overnight.

Local reports claim officers were waiting for the man, suspected of being drunk, to sober up before they interrogated him.

Police have not yet commented on whether the attack was terror-related.

It is understood the man escaped on foot after wounding five people.

A sixth person escaped unscathed, reportedly protected from the blade by thick winter clothing.
