Jose Mourinho treating Paul Pogba like Eden Hazard at Chelsea… it won’t end well – Nicol

That is the view of ESPN FC pundit and former Liverpool and Scotland defender Steve Nicol.

Pogba has not completed 90 minutes in his last three Premier League appearances for Manchester United.

The Frenchman has been substituted after an hour in two of those games and started the 2-0 win over Huddersfield on the bench.

Nicol says Mourinho’s recent treatment of Pogba is similar to how he used Hazard at Chelsea during the 2015/16 season.

Mourinho ended up getting sacked in the December of that campaign, with Eden Hazard not scoring a single goal before that point.

And Nicol believes what Mourinho’s doing with Pogba will only end badly.

“I’m not going to argue with you that he should be doing more,” Nicol said of Pogba.

“I totally agree with that.

“But does this not smell a little bit like Hazard at Chelsea, the year after they won the league?

“All of a sudden your star man, who’s not playing well, is not starting.

“Then the whole season goes to pot. This could happen with Paul Pogba as well.

“Is this the personality of Mourinho that he picks on one of his stars and just messes them up?”
