Fortnite news – New Battle Royale modes, Valentine’s event update, server status latest

fans will be getting a series of brand new modes to play in Battle Royale on the PS4, Xbox One and PCs.

Epic Games will be bringing FIVE limited time modes to Fortnite Battle Royale in the next month.

In a new blog post, they also revealed that Fortnite will be getting a ‘floor is lava’ limited time mode (LTM) also.

Epic Games said: “We’ve been hammering away at Limited Time Modes! Getting you multiple playlists (solo, duo and squads) during LTMs is at the top of the priority stack.

“We’ve been using multiple data points (including your feedback) to iterate our existing LTM’s and to build brand new LTM’s.

“We are planning to quickly spin up a dozen or so LTMs, some of these may be more straightforward (e.g. along the lines of Sniper Shootout, Sneaky Silencer etc.).

“We also use LTMs to test new Shooting Models.”

Here are the five new LTMs heading to Fortnite Battle Royale in the coming weeks:

• Blitz Mode (shorter matches!)

• Drop into the first circle

• Generally less time between circles

• Team sizes in between 50v50 and squads

• 50v50 v2

The reworked 50v50 mode will give a Battle Bus for each team, feature more supply drops and be closer to the experience shown in the original trailer.

Fortnite fans have also been given an explanation for what caused the recent server outage on PS4, Xbox One and PCs.

According to Epic, after hitting 3.4 million concurrent players on February 4, the Fortnite servers were unable to cope.

The sheer volume of players caused six different incidents, resulting in varying levels of server problems.

And with the game becoming seemingly more popular by the week, it could be a while before server issues are a thing of the past.

Fortunately, however, Epic is working on a long-term solution to the server problems.

“Problems that affect service availability are our primary focus above all else right now,” reads an Epic blog post.

“We want you all to know we take these outages very seriously, conducting in-depth post-mortems on each incident to identify the root cause and decide on the best plan of action.

“The online team has been working diligently over the past month to keep up with the demand created by the rapid week-over-week growth of our user base.”

Fortnite fans are also gearing up for the start of the Valentine’s Day event, which kicks off on PS4, Xbox One and PCs on February 14.

The Fortnite event will come with the upcoming release of patch V.2.5.0.

Valentine’s Day skins will be available in Fortnite Battle Royale, as well as the new Cupid’s crossbow weapon.

While Save The World players will be getting a special Valentine’s Day themed quest, entitled A Love Story.

Detailing the update in a new blog post, the Fortnite team said: “Valentine’s day is coming and Fortnite is getting in the spirit. Feeling lovey-dovey?

“Then grab yourself Valentine’s Day themed skins in Battle Royale. Gunpowder, not your thing?

“The new Crossbow allows you to hunt your prey the old-fashioned way.”
