Pokemon Go news: Two ultra-rare Shiny Pokemon REVEALED in Rayquaza update

fans can unlock two new Shiny Pocket Monsters.

As part of the recently released Rayquaza update, Niantic has made Swablu available to capture as a Shiny.

This means that Altaria – Swablu’s evolved form – is also available as a Shiny.

Unfortunately, however, players will need to do some serious grinding, because Altaria isn’t available in the wild.

Instead, players will need to earn 400 Swablu candies in order to unlock this ultra-rare Pokemon.

Swablu and Altaria join an increasingly long list of Shiny Pokemon that started with Magikarp and Gyarados.

Other shinies include Pichu, Pikachu, Raichu, Shuppet, Banette, Snorunt, Glalie, Sableye, Duskull, and Dusclops.

The latest Shiny update launched alongside a new Legendary Raid.

Rayquaza will be available to battle until March 16, so there’s plenty of time to capture it.

And the good news is that the Legendary Pocket Monster is relatively easy to defeat.

Rayquaza has a low defence and is weak against Pokemon with ice moves.

Pokemon Go trainers can use Jynx to do some serious damage against Rayquaza.

Hardcore Pokemon Go fans might also want to consider the likes of Lapras, Walrein and Articuno, which all have double ice movesets.

Other new Gen 3 Pokemon from the Hoenn region include Salamence, Altaria, Metagross and lots more.

And in an unusual move, players will only encounter Gen 3 Pokemon until February 13.
