Nigella Lawson weight loss: TV star slimmed down thanks to THIS diet approach

Nigella Lawson, 58, is a world-renowned cookbook author and TV chef.

As famous for her voluptuous figure as her delicious recipes, the cook has lost weight in recent months.

While the mum-of-two does not speak often about her diet and exercise routine, she has made comments in the past about her lifestyle.

She claims to have never dieted, but does acknowledge her weight fluctuates.

Speaking to Good Housekeeping, she said: “It’s certainly true my weight went up – that happens in life sometimes.

“I wouldn’t want a life where I lived on chia seed pudding, just as I wouldn’t want to live where I lived on eggs Benedict or steak and chips.”

She also distanced herself from food “trends”, and said: “Also, you can guarantee that what people think will be good for you this year, they won’t next year.

I love kale and I’m an avocado obsessive. But life is about balance, it’s not about being smug. You don’t eat things because you think they’re good for you.”

As well as eating a varied diet, Nigella does undertake gentle exercise.

She said: “I have never been on a diet to try to lose weight. I feel like I haven’t lost weight, but I’m possibly in better shape. I am doing a rather slow form of yoga now called lyengar.”

This is something the star does three times a week, as well as “lots of stretching”.

Nigella also revealed in an interview with The Telegraph in 2015 that a double bunion operation caused her to lose weight unexpectedly.

Explaining why, she said: “I couldn’t walk to the fridge afterwards and, actually, it’s quite a good diet.

“Not because I stopped eating but because you can say to someone, ‘Can you get me a slice of cake?’ but it’s kind of embarrassing to say, ‘And now could you get me a second slice?’”

Nigella is not the only TV chef to lose weight recently – and some others have lost dramatic amounts.

James Martin, former Saturday Kitchen presenter, dropped a whopping five stone cutting out on particular fatty food.
