Sony Xperia XZ2 release – Is this the proof Sony flagship will launch this month?

With just a few weeks away we know Sony Xperia fans are likely to see some new smartphones launching very soon.

Rumours have been rife that the Japanese technology firm will unveil a device called the Xperia XZ Pro in Barcelona on February 26.

This premium smartphone looks set to include a 4K edge-to-edge display, dual rear camera and the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor – which will not only be quick but also hugely efficient adding to its battery life.

The Pro will sit at the top of the Xperia range and offer premium features at what is expected to be a high price.

Although the Xperia Pro looks almost certain to be unveiled, we may also see another Sony smartphone launched at MWC 2018.

It was thought that the Xperia XZ2 would launch much later in 2018 but a tweet, spotted by eagle-eyed Reddit user, may prove that’s not true.

The message, which was posted by Three Ireland, suggest the XZ2 is “coming soon”.

The tweet, which has since been deleted, came in response to a customer asking if the popular operator would stocking Sony’s new mid-range Xperia XA2.

The reply said: “We won’t be ranging the XA2, but will range the XZ2 which will be coming soon.”

Three has since said the tweet was posted in error but it could give us an indication of what’s to come in the weeks ahead.

Sony has already begun the year with a smartphone launch with the Japanese technology firm revealing its new Xperia XA2 and XA2 Ultra.

These mid-range devices feature an edge-to-edge display, rear fingerprint scanner and decent processor for a lot less than a flagship device.

The XA2 Ultra also brings a dual selfie camera to the Xperia brand which offers improved images in low light and the ability to take a wide-angle shot of you friends and family.

Both devices are on sale now with prices starting from £299.

If you’re not bothered by Sony’s cut-priced phones and want to know everything about their new top-tier devices express.co.uk will be heading to Barcelona at the end of the month.

Mobile World Congress kicks off on February 25 with Samsung, Nokia and Huawei all expected to announce their big 2018 news.
