Djokovic and Nadal contested a marathon Australian Open final in 2012 that lasted just short of six hours – the longest in Grand Slam final history.
The Serbian, a 12-time Grand Slam winner, has struggled with an elbow injury over the past six months and suffered a recurrence of the problem against Hyeon Chung at Melbourne Park.
World No 1 Nadal, meanwhile, isn’t expected to return to action until later this month as he recovers from a thigh injury.
Roger Federer on the other hand, could regain the number one spot in the world rankings if he reaches the semi-finals of the Rotterdam Open.
And Djokovic has jokingly admitted the 2012 final has had a lasting effect on him and Nadal.
He posted a video on Instagram of the pair and the condition they were in at the ceremony.
He wrote: “No wonder we need rehab now @rafaelnadal.”
Djokovic however shared a picture of him looking in more peak physical condition.
He wrote: “Looking back and feeling inspired in rehab this week.
“Let’s get it. #beastmode #tbt.”
