George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces: Fans can’t get over ‘genius’ £480 horsebox transformation

George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces aired on Channel 4 tonight, and in the episode a young woman’s horsebox was transformed into a chill out space – and fans were loving it over on Twitter.

Architect George Clarke, 43, is used to making the best use of challenging spaces, transforming them in a way many wouldn’t think possible.

On the programme, Fran, 14, an aspiring architect, revealed she has bought a horsebox with her birthday money savings in order to have her own space.

She told George she wanted to paint the horsebox purple and white, and to call it “freedom”.

‘It needs a fair bit of prep work,’ remarking that there was ‘rust’ in the box.

She wanted to put a stove into it, with multi-tasking parts because of the small space.

Fran also dreamed of putting in bench seats in suitable for sleepovers, with a fold out desk coming out of the wall.

Fran’s parents had agreed to pay £700 towards the project, and Fran had £800 of savings – minus the £480 she already paid for the horsebox.

As the finished work was unveiled on the programme, fans tweeted in praise of Fran, calling her a “genius”.

One wrote: “Can’t get over the transformation of an old horse box on #amazingspaces hats off to Fran! 14 years old and a complete genius!”.

Everything about the horsebox space was multi-functional – with a desk that doubled up as a picture frame.

There was even an outdoor chill out deck on the door that came out of the inside.

“Fran’s horsebox has knocked it out of the park,” he finished.

“The memories are worth so much more – I’m going to treasure this,” said Fran.

In a previous episode of the programme, George met a young couple who wanted to renovate a house boat.

The couple, kitchen fitter Sam, 30 and his partner Adele, had bought a waterlogged house boat to make into a home – with a deadline of five weeks.

The benefit of the house boat, a restored Narrow Boat, was said to be that it was mortgage free.

The project proved to be a huge success, surprising even George with how good it looked.

“She floats! And she looks beautiful,” said owner Sam of the project.
