Tottenham news: Erik Lamela issues major transfer update on Juventus link

The playmaker has been plagued by injuries over the past year and has barely featured for Tottenham’s first team since the end of the 2015/16 season.

The 25-year-old has recently been linked with a move away with Inter Milan, Juventus and former club Roma reportedly interested in a move for the Tottenham star.

But Lamela insists he’s happy in London and was quick to quash rumours of a move back to Italy.

“The club is getting better and better, and I love living in London,” the Argentine told Gazzetta dello Sport.

Lamela left a lasting impression in Serie A after two successful seasons at Roma, but stresses that he’s had no contact from Italian clubs.

“There’s never been anything with Juventus,” he added.

“Inter? I only think about the club that I’m at, and I am very good here at Tottenham.”

Lamela moved to White Hart Lane in 2013 from Roma for £25million, but struggled to make the same impact he’d had upon arrival in the Italian capital.

The appointment of fellow countryman Mauricio Pochettino had a big impact on him as the former Southampton boss helped the youngster find his feet and began to morph him into one of Tottenham’s most important players.

“Pochettino is from Argentina like me and he knows that it is not easy for a young player to settle in quickly in a completely different culture,” said Lamela.

“At the beginning, I had many problems with the language, injuries and different football. After the first season, many people told me to leave England but I didn’t want to give up, it was a challenge. Now I’m still here, so I made the right choice.”
