The Boeing 737 skidded off the run way as it prepared to leave the airport in Maryland, in the US.
It is understood there were 149 passengers on board but so far no report of any injuries have emerged.
Pictures from the scene show the aircraft partially on the grass.
The Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) on Twitter said: “BWI personnel have worked to move passengers from an outbound aircraft that stopped on taxiway pavement.
“There were no reported injuries.”
It is unclear whether this incident will affect other scheduled outbound flights from BWI.
