The 83-year-old has appeared as the MI6 chief in every James Bond movie since 1995’s Goldeneye – even cameoing in Spectre after her character’s death in Skyfall.
While Ralph Fiennes has taken over as M, Dench has much respect from 007 fans – so surely her opinion on calls for a female Bond after Craig is worth its weight in Walther PPKs?
Asked by The Sun if a female Bond was something she would like to see, the actress replied: “Not much, no. I think it should be a man. But who knows.”
Dench joins Spectre villain Christoph Waltz, who slammed the calls for a woman to replace Craig.
She said: “I think it’s a great move forward for girl power that there is going to be a female Doctor Who. And one day there should be a female James Bond.”
James Bond 25 will be released in UK cinemas in November 2019.
