BREAKING: Turkish soldier killed and five wounded in rocket and mortar attack

The country’s armed forces declared that Turkish military responded with retaliatory fire – one civilian member of the Ankara force was also injured.

It is currently unknown who was behind the horrific attack.

Last month Turkey launched the ‘Operation Olive Branch’ air and ground campaign against the Kurdish YPG militia in the northern region of Afrin.

This prompted calls from Iran for Turkish President Erdogan to halt its devastating military offensive.

Bahrain Qasemi, Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman, said: “Turkey should stop its operation and respect Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“Turkey’s actions can bring back insecurity, instability, and terrorism to Syria.”
