Ahead of OnePlus 6 release date, limited edition Lava Red OnePlus 5T FINALLY hits UK

The Lava Red OnePlus 5T hits the UK and Europe today.

The limited edition flagship smartphone first launched as .

Since then, OnePlus has sold a limited run of the . And now the limited edition handset is coming to the UK.

To achieve the glowing red, OnePlus says its Lava Red smartphone undergoes an extensive design process – being anodised between two sandblasting techniques before adding an anti-fingerprint layer to create the final finish.

OnePlus 5T was already a pretty good looking phone, but for our money, the Lava Red finish takes this to new levels.

The beautiful handset has deep red antenna lines, a black faceplate and matching red ceramic fingerprint sensor.

The limited edition OnePlus is only available with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

It goes on-sale today, February 6th, at 10am GMT on OnePlus.net for £499 in the UK.

To celebrate the launch, OnePlus has shared a brand-new Valentine’s Day commercial with actress and model Emily Ratajkowski.

OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei announced the arrival of the Lava Red OnePlus 5T on the company’s forums.

Pei wrote: “For our latest Limited Edition version of the OnePlus 5T, we’re turning towards the colour that has become synonymous with OnePlus: Red.

“This is the OnePlus 5T Lava Red, a radiant new variant of our latest flagship. Defined by its striking shade of red, our latest design effort is at once restrained and audacious.

“Months of fine-tuning and experimentation led to a device that seamlessly blends our distinct shade of red with the robust all-metal body of the OnePlus 5T.”

Presumably named OnePlus 6, the all-new smartphone will be unveiled late in Q2 2018, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has confirmed.

The Chinese smartphone start-up’s second financial quarter runs from April 1st to June 30th.

If the company is targeting the end of that quarter, we can expect the OnePlus 6 to launch in a similar timeframe to the OnePlus 5 last year.

Elsewhere, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau also confirmed the processor that will power the next-generation handset.

Like the much-rumoured Samsung Galaxy S9, the OnePlus 6 will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845.

“Of course, there’s no other choice,” Pete Lau told CNET during the CES tradeshow in Las Vegas earlier this month.
