Pokemon Go news: New Niantic update revealed as fans ready for Gen 3 2018 release

A new Pokemon Go Gen 3 launch appears to be in the works and could be released this month.

Dataminers have found fresh Pokemon news that suggests a new Legendary type is being primed for the game.

Deoxys and another Pokemon were apparently found as part of information received via the official Pokemon Go network traffic.

The psychic is categorised as a Legendary type and could be used as the next Pokemon Go Raids boss.

Kyogre will be leaving Gyms on February 14, providing excellent timing for another special Pokemon to start popping up.

“The DNA of a space virus underwent a sudden mutation upon exposure to a laser beam and resulted in Deoxys,” the official Pokedex description reads.

“The crystalline organ on this Pokémon’s chest appears to be its brain.”

It should be noted, however, that Niantic have not confirmed what their plans are for the coming weeks, away from the Community Day event.

Castform was also found in the same network traffic, meaning that a second wave of Gen 3 Pokemon could also be in the works.

“Castform’s appearance changes with the weather. This Pokemon gained the ability to use the vast power of nature to protect its tiny body.”

Could this mean a new type of collectable variant will be released in February by Niantic?

Recent reports suggest the development team are set to release new filter options for the game in the coming weeks, and something like this would fit quite nicely together.

Fans are also hoping for some kind of new Pokemon Go event to launch next week, bringing back the Valentine’s Day bonuses from last year.

Again, Niantic have not confirmed their plans, although it seems unlikely that they would skip out on an opportunity to provide new Store Boxes for fans to snap up.

It was recently revealed that Pokemon Go fans can now unlock a host of new items from the in-game clothing store.

Niantic has added new Pokemon clothing items that can only be purchased once you’ve earned the required medals.

This includes new Fisherman costumes, new Battle Girl outfits and Jogger gear.

“Proud of your Magikarp-catching skills?” reads a Niantic tweet. “With every Fisherman medal you achieve, a familiar Fisherman avatar item will be available for you to purchase in-game. Good luck – and don’t get splashed!”

A follow-up tweet adds: “Trainers, show off your fighting spirit! New Battle Girl avatar items are available for purchase once you achieve the Bronze, Silver, or Gold Battle Girl medals.”

“Show off how far you’ve walked while playing Pokemon GO with the all-new Jogger avatar items, now available to purchase after earning the Bronze, Silver, or Gold Jogger medals,” a final tweet reads.
