Pancake day 2018: Recipe for a thick and fluffy American-style mix

Pancake day is on Tuesday 13 February and with not long to go it’s time to start thinking about what recipe you’ll be using this year to create the most delicious treat.

Michelle’s recipe is for American-inspired pancakes that promise indulgence – but the blogger also issues a warning.

She said: “This is not like heathy pancakes. This is not a lose weight situation. These are just made from scratch, homemade pancakes that I’ve been making for 11 years now.”

In a video on her Youtube channel the mother-of-three lists the ingredients you’ll need.

She said: “You’ll need two eggs, two cups of buttermilk, four tablespoons of oil, two cups of flour, two tablespoons of sugar, two teaspoons of baking powder, one teaspoon of baking soda and half a teaspoon of salt.

“All you do is mix all of this together in a bowl.”

The concoction creates a thick, buttery-coloured mixture that isn’t runny, like traditional British pancakes.

Michelle explained: “I have it at medium heat. Then you pour a quarter cup of the pancake into the frying pan.”

She added: ”You know that they’re starting to cook when bubbles arise, that’s how you know when to flip it.”

Michelle then makes a buttermilk syrup to go with the tasty creation.

She adds half a stick of butter and 3/4 cup of sugar to a pan.

Half a cup of buttermilk is then added in and the mixture is brought to the boil.
