Man Utd make transfer plans because of Paul Pogba performance against Tottenham

Manchester United slumped to a disappointing 2-0 defeat against Tottenham last night, with Pogba enduring one of his worst performances for the club.

The France international has been in stellar form this season – appearing to regain his confidence after a stuttering first season back at the club last term.

However, his poor display against Spurs has led to fans and pundits thinking that Manchester United need to tactically tinker to get the best out of their £89million man.

And the Daily Mail claim the Red Devils are set to sign a midfielder at the end of the season – though no names are mentioned.

Pogba’s best-ever performances came during his time at Serie A giants Juventus.

In his four years in Turin, the 24-year-old was often paired alongside the likes of Andrea Pirlo, Claudio Marchisio and Arturo Vidal in the middle of the park.

And the Daily Mail report United may opt to bring in another player to help get him fully firing.

The club have plenty of midfielders at their disposal at present – but whether they have Jose Mourinho’s trust is uncertain.

Often, the 54-year-old opts to play defensively in games against the ‘big six’.

But against Tottenham, he raised eyebrows by playing four attackers and just Pogba and Nemanja Matic in midfield.

As a result, United were overran.

And by the time the likes of Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera were introduced, it was too little too late.

United have been linked with plenty of players in recent times.

Toni Kroos, Julian Weigl and Jorginho have all been linked with the club, with Weigl and Jorginho heavily linked during the January transfer window.
