The miners are trapped at Beatrix mine in South Africa, near the city of Johannesburg.
Officials for mining company Sibanye-Stillwater said there were around 950 miners trapped underground.
A spokesman said the miners were safe with food and water being provided.
Power is slowly being restored to the mine but it is not yet safe to bring miners to the surface.
