It’s been a rough time for dedicated Star Wars fans.
Whether they loved the Last Jedi or were part of the vocal backlash, everyone is united over teh loss of two of teh original and utterly iconic characters.
Lucasfilm and Disney have beenclear that Leia will not be back through use of CGI or otherwise. Luke may still “do a Yoda” and return in a ghost form for Episode 9.
But what about another character last seen plunging into a fiery abyss?
Captain Phasma has been a rather divisive figure in the movies.
Gwendoline Christie gives an undeniably impressive performance, but the character hasn’t lived up to all fan expectations. After rather meekly rolling over at the end of The Force Awakens, she had a spectacular showdown with Finn on board Snoke’s Supremacy before toppling into an exploding chasm as the ship was torn apart around her.
Can she possibly make it out of that alive? Christie has some bad news…
The actress told The Times she fears Phasma may never return:
She said: “I don’t know… That scares and upsets me because I really want to see this character explored. I’m actually very invested in the character now. And that’s genuine. That’s not just chat. It has opened up a chain of stories and events in my mind about who Phasma is.”
Christie revealed that she had not been told anything by the makers of Epiosde 9, which has already started pre-production.
It looks like Phasma has been phased out…
