Passion of the Christ 2: Jesus star back for ‘BIGGEST movie ever, it will SHOCK audiences’

Last year Gibson confirmed the sequel to his controversial 2004 faith epic, which violently portrayed the crucifixion of Jesus and was accused of anti-semitism.

Nevertheless, The Passion of the Christ is the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time in the US and made over $600 million worldwide on a $30 million budget.

and now Jim, a devout Catholic actor who played Jesus in the original movie, has confirmed he will reprise the role of the Christian Messiah.

Speaking with USA Today he teased: “There are things that I cannot say that will shock the audience. It’s great. Stay tuned.”

Jim added: “I won’t tell you how he’s going to go about it. But I’ll tell you this much, the film he’s [Gibson] going to do is going to be the biggest film in history. It’s that good.

“Braveheart, that’s a film that took a long time to be able to crack. The same thing for Passion. And the same thing for this. He’s finally got it. So that is coming.”

While The Passion of the Christ depicted the last 12 hours of Jesus’ life, perhaps the sequel won’t just focus on the Resurrection, if it’s going to be as big as Jim has teased.

It’s possible the narrative could depict not just the empty tomb and resurrection appearances to the disciples, but also cover aspects of the book of Acts – the sequel to Luke’s gospel. This could include the Ascension, Pentecost and the conversion of Saul.

Speaking on the new film last year, Gibson said: “The Resurrection. Big subject. Oh, my God.”

He continued: “We’re trying to craft this in a way that’s cinematically compelling and enlightening so that it shines new light, if possible, without creating some weird thing.”

Jim confirmed dates are set for shooting the sequel, but he wouldn’t disclose when they are.
