Xbox Backwards Compatibility UPDATE: Microsoft with the news fans have been waiting for

Xbox One backwards compatibility will further expand with even more original Xbox releases.

Microsoft has assured fans that more original Xbox games will be added in the future.

However, according to Xbox boss Phil Spencer, there are complications with licenses.

“There are a number of OG games in BC pipeline, they won’t drop as often as the 360 games but team is working to validate and get permissions,” Spencer tweeted.

“More complicated with some just due to the age of the rights etc.”

Original Xbox releases joined the backwards compatibility lineup last year. Compatible games include Ninja Gaiden Black, Bloodrayne 2, Crimson Skies, Dead to Rights and Grabbed by the Ghoulies.

Original Xbox game can be played using the classic Duke controller that’s coming soon from Hyperkin.

Perfect for playing classic titles on, The Duke will be returning at the end of March and will retail for around $69.99.

The bulky controller will only be available for a limited time, however, so fans will need to order fast.

Original Xbox designer Seamus Blackley is behind the re-release, which has the full blessing of Microsoft.

New Xbox One Backwards Compatibility games were added to the list last week.

This includes Split/Second and LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues, which can be downloaded on Xbox One.

The LEGO adventure has over 8,000 votes on the official Xbox voting website, while Split/Second received over 5,000 votes.

Other games released in January include Sniper Elite V2, Far Cry 2 and Driver San Francisco, Magic 2013, Magic: The Gathering and Magic 2014 — Duels of the Planeswalkers.
