Woody Allen’s next movie to be SCRAPPED? A Rainy Day In New York ‘may never be released’

Filming has wrapped on the film, which stars Timothee Chalamet and Selena Gomez.

In the midst of the #MeToo movement, scrutiny on Allen has intensified once again, as daughter Dylan Farrow stands by her sexual abuse allegations against him (allegations he has always denied).

Now, Page Six reports that Rainy Day will either be canned altogether, or released online with no promotion.

Stars Chalamet and Rebecca Hall have donated their salaries to charities, while Gomez was alleged earlier this month to have also made a donation that exceeded her payment amount.

“Rainy Day will either not come out or [will] get dumped by Amazon without any PR or theatrical release,” a source told the publication.

They added: “He’s having trouble casting his new film.”

Greta Gerwig, Colin Firth and Ellen Page are also among those who have recently spoken out in regret of their working with Allen in the past, although Alec Baldwin and Diane Keaton have stood by him.

Yesterday Kate Winslet – who worked with Allen on Wonder Wheel – was reported to have made a speech that alluded to her regret at working with “certain individuals”.

“I wouldn’t be able to stand here this evening and keep to myself some bitter regrets that I have at poor decisions to work with individuals with whom I wish I had not,” she said.

“It has become clear to me that by not saying anything, I might be adding to the anguish of many courageous women and men.”

She added: “Sexual abuse is a crime. While it rests with the rule of law to pass judgement, it lies with all of us to listen to the smallest of voices and to never stop listening.”
