Warning: spoilers for Star Wars – The Last Jedi lie ahead.
Fans were disappointed to see Phasma appear to meet a fiery end in Episode 8, after she’d previously dodged death by garbage chute in The Force Awakens.
But could she sidestep the grave once again? Christie certainly sounds game.
“In truth, I don’t know [about a return],” she told The Times.
“And that scares and upsets me because I really want to see this character explored. I’m actually very invested in the character now.”
She added: “And that’s genuine. That’s not just chat.
“It has opened up a chain of stories and events in my mind about who Phasma is.”
Even if an Episode 9 appearance might be a stretch, there is always the possibility of Phasma arriving in another film, such as an anthology tale set before the events of the current trilogy.
Someone else who is still unsure if they’ll be reporting to set for Episode 9 is Lupita Nyong’o, who plays Maz Kanata.
She had a very small cameo in The Last Jedi but told The Hollywood Reporter that she is unsure whether she’ll feature at all in the trilogy finale.
Star Wars 9 is due in cinemas in December 2019.
