Overwatch Chinese New Year update: Lunar event release date, skins, sprays, more

fans are waiting for the 2018 Lunar New Year event to get started on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

While Blizzard confirmed that the event would return earlier this year, the Overwatch developer is yet to announce the release date.

Last year’s event started a few days before Lunar New Year, so a February 13 launch is a strong possibility.

The Year of the Dog Overwatch event will be similar to 2017’s Year of the Rooster event, although Blizzard has made a number of tweaks based on fan feedback.

In addition to new skins, sprays, emotes and more, Blizzard is likely to bring back all of last year’s items.

If it’s anything like last year’s event, returning skins will be available at a cheaper price.

It’s been a busy few weeks for Overwatch fans, after Blizzard released a new map and items.

The latest Overwatch update added more than 100 new items, which will be permanently available in loot boxes.

The new items includes Epic and Legendary skins, player icons, emotes and sprays.

If you don’t find any in loot boxes, you can also purchase the items directly by visiting the Hero Gallery.

“We’re expanding our core cosmetics collection to include over 100 new items – including skins, sprays, player icons, emotes, and more – for all 26 heroes,” reads a Blizzard blog post.

“And, starting January 23, you’ll be able to earn these cosmetics in standard Loot Boxes as well as unlock them via the Hero Gallery all year round.”

Perhaps even more exciting is that the cosmetic update launched alongside the brand new Blizzard World Map.

One of the most interesting maps yet, the Blizzard World arena is a brand new hybrid map that supports Assault and Escort game modes.
