Certain coins have a huge value to collectors who know their worth, and are often sold on the auction site.

William Shakespeare £2 coin – how much is it worth?

A rare 2016 William Shakespeare coin is being listed for £1,675 on eBay.

This coin design was released as part of a series of three by the Royal Mint to mark the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death.

It was designed by coinage artist John Bergdahl, based on the moving tragedies, histories and comedies written by the famous playwright.

One of these coins – the Shakespeare Histories 2016 coin – is listed on the site for £110.

However, the eBay coin in question – listed by seller mansb-2013 – has a rare error which may mean it is worth much more.

The seller wrote in the listing that the item was a “very collectable rare error coin”.

He explains its value is due to not one, but multiple errors which he then lists.

“The coin has multiple strike errors including a larger than normal centre which spreads towards the date and lettering on both sides.

He continues to explain the coin also has “large rims and signs of edge reeding on reverse surface, the coin also has less than 1mm of edge reeding all the way round the coin and the remainder is plain.”

Recently, a rare 50p coin was listed for £5,995 on the eBay website.

It was a rare Peter Rabbit 50p coin, one of a collection created to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of Beatrix Potter in 2016.

However, the Peter Rabbit ones is known for be the most valued.

Some 15,000 of the coins were produced by the Royal Mint in the same year.
