PUBG news: FREE Xbox One reward, New update RELEASED, Version 2.0 roadmap

PUBG dominated the news this week, starting with a big new update on Xbox One.

Patch 6 makes a slew of gameplay changes to Battlegrounds, not to mention bug fixes, optimisations and much more.

According to the Bluehole patch notes, auto run has been added to the game, and can be activated by double clicking L3.

Players can also drop equipped weapons when the inventory screen is active, while grenades can be cycled via the D Pad.

Perhaps more welcome are the various bug fixes and optimisations that should result in a smoother experience.

The update doesn’t include any , which is on the company’s radar.

The Miramar Desert map (below) is also conspicuous by its absence…

PUBG hit a major milestone on Xbox One this week.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is proving to be a big hit on Xbox One, and has already attracted 4 million players.

To celebrate the milestone, Battlegrounds players will receive 30,000 Battle Points.

The points will be available on February 1, but only if you’ve purchased the game and created a character before 8am UK time on January 31.

Fans can pick up a selection of PUBG loot crates with the free Battle Points.

PUBG developer Bluehole doesn’t have a clear plan for future Battlegrounds content on Xbox One and PC.

According to PUBG Corporation CEO Chang Han Kim, the next year will be devoted to polishing the game and making it more enjoyable for players.

“[So far] we have been focusing on getting out of Early Access, but I think 1.0 as a number is just an iconic milestone,” he told GamesIndustry.biz.

“It was just about keeping our promise with the community, because we promised we would launch as soon as possible and ensure the game had everything they wanted.

“2.0 and 3.0 don’t really have any meaning for us.”

The PUBG boss said that Battlegrounds is an evolving product, and doesn’t have a clear roadmap for the future.

“We see PUBG as an endlessly evolving online product,” he continued. “It’s not like we have a clear roadmap with 2.0 and 3.0.”
