66: Dele Alli replaces Fernando Llorente. I don’t think we’ll be seeing the Harry Kane/Llorente experiment for a while…

63: Harry Kane receives the ball with his back to goal but gets his feet in a muddle and the danger is cleared.

60: How on earth is Moussa Sissoko still on the pitch?! Again the midfielder embarks on a surging run forward and again he’s given the ball away.

Dele Alli is preparing to come on.

56: Can’t believe it. Harry Kane has missed a free-header from three-yards out. Trippier whipped the ball in from the right but England’s talisman is slightly underneath it and the chance goes begging.

54: Amond glances another agricultural long throw from Tozer, but it’s miles wide. Spurs still struggling to deal with the route-one stuff.

Son has made a difference since coming on. He’s the only player providing any movement in the Newport half.

51: I know Tottenham are missing plenty of first-team players, but this is easily the worst I’ve seen them play all season. It’s slow, drab and completely predictable.

48: Spurs have a bit more purpose about them, but they’ve not created anything to worry the Newport defence.

NEWPORT 1-0 TOTTENHAM

45: We’re back underway folks. Son replaces Kyle Walker-Peters at left wing-back. Newport are 45 minutes away from a huge upset.

WORRY

HT: That can’t be right? Tottenham haven’t had an attempt on target since the first half against Southampton.

TWITTER ROUND-UP

Gary: I’m not going to panic but our attitude always seems poor against weaker sides! And Eric Dier is no longer a viable centre back!

Tony: Trippier sleeping on the far post for Newport goal. Still, media will tell you that Kyle Walker is a waste of money – fools!

Tahir: Shocking first half. No one there to support the front two. I knew we would lack the creativity in the middle when I saw the starting line up. Changes needed before the second half.

NEWPORT 1-0 TOTTENHAM

HT: After the dullest 120 seconds of football you’re likely to see, referee Roger East blows his whistle. League Two Newport are giving Tottenham a real lesson here tonight, and deserve their one-goal advantage.

TWO MINUTES ADDED TIME

43:  “Harry Kane t***ting free-kicks over the bar, Eric Dier struggling against supposedly inferior opposition. It’s an early glimpse into England’s World Cup campaign.” Could have put it better myself.

41: Almost 2-0. Vertonghen shanks his clearance straight to Willmott, whose angled effort almost sneaks in at the near post.

Spurs are rattled.

40: Padraig Amond has scored his first goal in the FA Cup since November 2015, when he scored twice against St Albans City for Grimsby.

NEWPORT 1-0 TOTTENHAM – AMOND

37: Rodney Parade erupts as League Two Newport take the lead, and it’s no less than they deserve.

There’s a beautiful cross sent in from Bennett on the right and Padraig Amond towers above Kieran Trippier at the back post to nod home.

We have a serious Cup tie on our hands folks.

35: Moussa Sissoko needlessly kills an attack by tripping a Newport defender. This is pretty dreadful stuff folks.

32: Touch number 12 from Harry Kane almost results in the opener. Trippier, who I think is better than Aurier (controversial, I know…), crosses for the striker who flicks it against the post.

29: Moussa Sissoko is enjoying another fine evening of trolling Tottenham supporters. He’s given the ball away countless times. Presumably he’s starting because Mauricio Pochettino wants to get shot of him before the window shuts.

26: A quarter of the match has passed, and Harry Kane has touched the ball 11 times…

24: Close! Newport continue to pile the pressure and almost take the lead from a Willmott free-kick. The shot evades everyone and Vorm somehow makes it stick.

21: Good grief. Welcome to the 21st century folks. Referee Roger East stopped play to consult with the police whether play should be stopped. The PC shakes his head and we’re back underway.

18: On this evidence Fernando Llorente and Harry Kane CAN’T play in the same team. Nothing is clicking for the pair as Newport continue to dominate proceedings on a windy night in Wales.

15: Brighton loanee Ben White has started at centre-back for Newport tonight. Manager Michael Flynn says he will be ‘shocked’ if the 20-year-old doesn’t become an established England international. No pressure, Ben…

12: Newport have a deadly weapon, and that’s the incredibly long throw of Ben Tozer. Think Rory Delap with a bit more style…

Anyway, Demetriou flicks the throw into the path of Bennett, who spoons it over. Should have done better.

9: Spurs are rattled here. They can’t keep the ball for any length of time, nor can they get in behind the League Two side. Newport are up for the fight.

6: Wow! Newport’s only player with any Premier League experience, Frank Nouble, has missed a sitter. The ball is cut across the penalty area and the former West Ham striker blazes over from eight-yards out.

Tottenham haven’t turned up yet. It’s all Newport.

3: I’ve seen a few people moaning about the pitch on Twitter. It’s not a great surface in all honesty and it really doesn’t help that the Dragons play rugby on it. Positive start from the hosts, who saw a corner cleared at the near post.

NEWPORT 0-0 TOTTENHAM

1: And we’re underway folks! I’d love to say that I can feel a magical FA Cup evening coming up, but I fear a rather simple 4-0 win for Tottenham. 7/1 if you’re interested…

TWITTER ROUND-UP

Jack: 3-0 Tottenham. Harry Kane brace and Fernando Llorente with the other. I can feel it…

Edwin: This FIELD looks terrible. Not worthy to be called a pitch. Let’s see how much it affects play.

John: Surprised to see Harry Kane risked against opposition expected to be physical given the next five fixtures.

REVENGE…

17:20: As the famous expression goes; Revenge is a dish best served during a Saturday evening FA Cup fourth-round tie…

It’s something like that.

Anyway, Newport veteran Paul Hayes is gunning for FA Cup revenge against Tottenham.

Hayes scored twice at White Hart Lane last season as Wycombe threatened one of the biggest FA Cup shocks of recent times.

The League Two side led 3-2 until the final minute before Dele Alli equalised, and Wycombe were denied a money-spinning replay when Son Heung-min scrambled home the winner in the seventh minute of stoppage time.

“The ref played over time and we just had to get on with it. I very much doubt if the Spurs fans will remember my goals, but hopefully we’ll try and cause them as many problems as Wycombe did.”

Glad he’s over it…

EVENING

17:10: Welcome to our LIVE coverage of the FA Cup.

It’s a regular David vs Goliath as Tottenham travel to the home of Goldie Lookin’ Chain – Newport.

If you’re not old enough to remember the Welsh comedic rap group then I politely suggest that you sort your life out and go watch them!

Anyway, Spurs are looking to avoid a potential upset against the League Two side and aren’t taking any chances with Harry Kane in the starting XI.
