Jorgensen to Newcastle: Feyenoord manager confirms striker wants deal

Newcastle are in talks with Feyenoord over a deal for he Denmark international.

The Toon valued Jorgensen at £15million, while their Dutch counterparts are seeking a £20m deal.

Rafael Benitez has already spoken positively about a deal for Jorgensen being completed by transfer deadline day.

Feyenoord coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst admits the matter is not in his hands anymore.

And the former Netherlands star says the hunt for a replacement is already underway.

“Yes, how do you do that?” he told journalists when asked if someone would come in to replace the 27-year-old.

“You have a list of possible successors, but you are dependent on many factors.

“For I now wait for information from (technical director) Martin van Geel.”

Jorgensen helped Feyenoord win their first Eredivisie title since 1999 last season.

The former FC Copenhagen player only joined the Rotterdam side 18 months ago.

However, Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf claim Jorgensen is keen to head to St James’ Park.

Van Bronckhorst is said to hold no grudge against the player for eyeing a move to the Premier League, having already spoken to him about the situation.

Newcastle are said to be stalling on meeting Feyenoord’s demands for the player, with Mike Ashley seemingly unwilling to meet the £20m proposal.
