Arsenal’s Aubameyang tactic

06:30: Arsenal will have to break their transfer record to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports.

Arsenal are chasing a deal for the Borussia Dortmund striker, with Arsene Wenger keen to bolster his attacking resources.

With less than a week until the window closes, a deal has been mooted for the Gabon international, who has been prolific this season, notching up 21 goals in all competitions.

And according to the Daily Star, Arsenal will have to pay more than they stumped out for Lacazette to get their hands on Aubameyang.

They are supposedly prepared to wait until the very last day to bring down the asking price.

Cristiano Ronaldo Manchester United return

06:00: Cristiano Ronaldo’s possible return to Manchester United will now no longer happen because the club signed Alexis Sanchez.

That is according to French football journalist Julien Laurens, who thinks there is no room in the squad for the Portugal international.

Ronaldo has been regularly linked with a move back to Man Utd but he may no longer fit into Jose Mourinho’s plans.

And Laurens has ruled out an Old Trafford return for Ronaldo, as he told BBC Radio 5 live: “He earns around €20m a year so I don’t know who would pay that for a 33 year old.

“I don’t think United, in the way they are planning the next few years, with Mourinho and the young players as well.”

Edin Dzeko Chelsea exclusive

05:30: Chelsea are considering a cheeky bid for Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud – in case their £30 million move for Edin Dzeko collapses.

Roma striker Dzeko is still locked in talks with the Stamford Bridge club over the deal, but he wants a two and a half year contract to return to the Premier League, while the champions are only offering a deal up to 2019.

Giroud was being offered as a makeweight in the deal that is expected to bring Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund to Arsenal but the Bundisliga club now want a straight cash £60 million deal.

Giroud, 31, will be pushed further down the pecking order at the Emirates if Aubameyang arrives having only started only one league game this season.

And Express Sport understands the Blues are hoping to capitalise if their Dzeko deal falls through.

Eden Hazard to Real Madrid

05:00: Chelsea are braced for Real Madrid to step up their pursuit of Eden Hazard after Paris Saint-Germain warned the La Liga giants off making a move for Neymar, according to reports.

The Brazilian moved to PSG last summer in a world record £198million transfer.

But there have been constant reports in Spain suggesting he is not happy with life in the French capital.

That has led to speculation Real could make a move with Florentino Perez adding to those rumours last month when he said Neymar would have a better chance at winning the Ballon d’Or at the Bernabeu.

However, PSG have told Real once and for all he will not be leaving in the summer.

Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele confusion

04:30: Barcelona legend Eric Abidal can’t understand why Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele have been signed if they want to bring in Antoine Griezmann.

But is has been suggested they remain interested in signing Griezmann from Atletico Madrid to further bolster their attacking options.

Reports have claimed Coutinho is seen as a more long-term replacement for Andres Iniesta in midfield, but Griezmann’s potential arrival could cause a selection headache for Ernesto Valverde.

But Abidal has questioned the Catalan club’s transfer strategy with a move for Griezmann also in the pipeline.

“Signing Coutinho means some will have to sit on the bench, that is why I say it is good to sign great players but it depends on the vision of the club,” he said.

“In football, the future is more important and it is better to have the best players in your team. Having a player like Griezmann in your team is always an advantage.”
