The star made his most recent appearance as Superman in Justice League just two months ago, but fans have been wondering when they’ll next get to see Cavill don his cape.
Rumours have been circulating of a Man of Steel sequel and an appearance in Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam movie.
However Revenge Of The Fans are reporting that Cavill will be in 2019’s Shazam! movie.
The outlet said: “I’ve been told by a trusted source that Cavill is set to appear in Shazam!”
They continued: “This decision comes after a bunch of internal discussions about where to place him next, since a sequel is still a ways off.
“Dwayne Johnson is adamant about having Cavill appear in his Black Adam film, but – for the time being – that film, I’m told, is far from getting off the ground because of Johnson’s hectic schedule.
“Warner Bros. doesn’t want to wait that long, since they’re still aware that the mainstream response to Superman in Justice League was a favourable one. Even the mostly-negative reviews the film garnered took the time to single out that the portrayal of Superman in the film is one of its saving graces.”
“So rather than wait for Untitled Superman Sequel or Black Adam, they’ve agreed to have him appear in Shazam! to keep him alive in the minds of the general public.”
Shazam! aka Captain Marvel, is powerful superhero and alter ego of a boy called Billy Batson, becomes the superhero when he says the magic word Shazam!
Zachary Levi will play Shazam, while Asher Angel stars as Billy Batson.
Shazam! will be released in UK cinemas on April 5, 2019.
