Ebay sellers sometimes sell rare coins on the auction site, which are worth much more than their face value.

Both old and new coins can earn a huge sum, if they have a value among collectors.

Peter Rabbit 50p coin – how much is it worth?

A rare Peter Rabbit 50 is being listed for £5,995 on eBay, and others have been auctioned for figures in the thousands.

The special coin was created to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of Beatrix Potter in 2016.

It is one of a collection of coins created to mark the author.

Some 15,000 of the coins were produced by the Royal Mint in the same year.

The silver proof version of the coin is said to be wroth the most money.

Another 50p coin that sold for a huge sum on eBay was the Isle of Man 50p.

The rare 50p coin sold on eBay earlier this month for £500.

The Isle of Man 50p is somewhat of a mystery, as the coin is not listed on Royal Mint’s site and there are no details of the coin’s circulation.

However, Nantwich Collectibles sold one of the unique coins on January 3 for £510, with fourteen bids being made on the item.

The coin shows on its face two motorcyclists racing, surrounded by a wreath – but why?

The coin is partially so mysterious because coins in the Isle of Man were not created by Royal Mint until last year.
