The upcoming Marvel extravaganza will see over 80 characters from the last 10 years of the franchise’s movie finally crossover.
With such a climatic plot promised, fans have been wondering who is going to get killed off.
Last year Avengers Infinity War and Avengers 4 directors The Russo brothers teased: “So we know who we’re allowed to kill, and that’s about it…it’s not a clean ending.”
With such gloomy prospects ahead for a selection of superheroes, just who is most likely to be killed off?
Captain America
Probably the most likely candidate to kick the bucket, Steve Rogers is currently in a funny place.
Now a fugitive under the alias Nomad, it wouldn’t be surprising for Captain America to sacrifice himself to save the world. After all, he died after Civil War in the comics.
Loki
The first trailer for Avengers Infinity War saw Thor’s brother reaching out with the Space Stone – which he reacquired at the end of Thor Ragnarok – to Thanos.
Surrounded by bodies, of what are probably his fellow Asgardians, will Thanos really spare the god of mischief?
Iron Man
He’s been around since the very beginning of the MCU, but will he make it out alive?
Robert Downey Jr has expressed interest in Iron Man 4 in the past, but his death would certainly stun his fellow Avengers.
Hulk
Last summer Scarlett Johansson revealed that one scene between her Black Widow and the Hulk left her “devastated”.
She said: “I just finished Avengers: Infinity War. The first one.
“My character has this ongoing relationship with Mark Ruffalo’s character. I had such devastation that day. I don’t know why. I was so devastated.”
Could she have been talking about the Hulk’s death?
Thor
He may have said he’s interested in making Thor 4, but that could all be a red herring.
After all, the Avengers Infinity War trailer shown at Comic Con saw Thanos crushing Thor’s skull between his hands.
Vision
He has the Mind Stone in his head, which was shown being extracted in the trailer.
However will Vision die if this happens? Confusingly he’s shown in human form in another scene. What is going on?
Drax
The Guardian’s family was murdered on Thanos’ orders, so it wouldn’t be surprising if Drax goes in all guns blazing against the purple titan.
A tease for this was seen in some leaked footage of the Guardians arriving on Knowhere to discover Thanos there torturing the Collector for information on the Reality Stone. They try to stop him, but Drax runs on ahead.
Avengers Infinity War will be released in UK cinemas on April 27, 2018, while Avengers 4 will follow on April 26, 2019.
