Man Utd news: Arsenal legend Martin Keown slams Jose Mourinho for three transfer decisions

Manchester United boss Mourinho pulled off a stunning coup on Monday, landing Alexis Sanchez with Henrikh Mkhitaryan joining Arsenal as part of the deal.

Many feel the Red Devils have got the better deal, given they have signed the 29-year-old without money changing hands.

But Keown has tipped Mkhitaryan to be a huge Emirates hit and cited Mourinho selling Kevin De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah as examples of him getting it wrong.

“Arsene Wenger may have been handed a pot of gold in Mkhitaryan,” he told the Daily Mail of the Manchester United deal.

“Wenger will definitely get the best from him.

“Wenger seems to create a different environment to Jose Mourinho.

“Watching Mkhitaryan and Luke Shaw for Manchester United recently, I felt sorry for them. They did not appreciate Mourinho’s style.

“Wenger will focus on what Mkhitaryan can do. The player will be coming in with a point to prove.

“Mourinho does not always get it right with players. Look at Kevin De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah.

“They have been two of the best players in the Premier League this season and both were let go by Mourinho at Chelsea.

“Mkhitaryan is coming in with a point to prove and if he can make it work, this will have been a successful transfer window for Wenger.”

Sanchez is set to be unleashed when United face Yeovil Town on Friday.

Mkhitaryan, meanwhile, could make his Arsenal bow against Swansea on Tuesday.
