Winston Churchill: Top 10 facts about one of the greatest wartime leaders

1. Winston Churchill is the only British Prime Minister to win a Nobel Prize (for Literature in 1953).

2. He was also the only British Prime Minister to have been made an honorary US citizen.

3. His father, Randolph Churchill, was Chancellor of the Exchequer and his mother, Jennie Jerome, was American and one-eighth Iroquoi Indian. 

4. He served as an MP under six monarchs, from Victoria to Queen Elizabeth II.

5. He went to Harrow School where he was mocked for his red hair and called Copperknob. 

6. His paternal grandfather was the 7th Duke of Marlborough.
