Pokemon Go Raid news: Aggron Gen 3 battles arrive with new pokemon and Shiny reveal

Niantic may have confirmed that 23 new Pokemon were being added to the game, but they didn’t reveal just which ones were included.

It’s now been confirmed that a new Pokemon Go Raid has been thrown into the mix with the new wave of Gen 3 arrivals.

From the singular image released by Niantic, it was almost certain that Aggron was going to be part of proceedings.

This new Gen 3 Raid boss is now live and comes in at the tier 4 level, and can provide 1716 CP if caught at Level 20 as a 100% IV.

This can be boosted to 2145 CP if caught with the right Weather Effect active.

In terms of which new Pokemon to use to catch Aggron, Kyogre, Groudon and Machamp have all been identified as good picks.

Having a good mix of Fighting, Ground and Water Pokemon will make taking on Aggron easier, although there is another way to obtain it.

Arons are available in the wild, meaning you can build up to its third evolution, which can also come with a bonus.

Trainers have now discovered that among the new Gen 3 Pocket Monsters, it’s now possible to grab a shiny Aron.

Numbers aren’t in on just how rare this new find is, however, Aron is just one of a number of new Pokemon now available to catch.

In total, Niantic have released 23 new Pocket Monsters into the wild, with some of them harder to find than others.

According to the official Pokemon Company website, there are two new Pokemon which are now part of a rotating regional launch.

“Of particular note are the mighty Lunatone and Solrock, which can be found throughout the world, but never in the same region at the same time,” the official Pokemon announcement reads.

“Trainers should also be on the lookout for other familiar Pokémon like Aggron, Trapinch, Nosepass, and Camerupt. So stock up on Poké Balls and head on out for your next Pokémon GO adventure. That Pokédex isn’t going to complete itself.”

And while there are plenty of new catches to choose from, early indications show that Aron maybe one of the strongest new additions to the game.

A list of what new Pokemon can be found in the wild has been drawn up, and includes these Gen 3 types:

  • Whismur
  • Loudred
  • Aron
  • Lairon
  • Numel
  • Camerumpt
  • Torkoal
  • Nosepass
  • Baltoy
  • Claydol
  • Solrock/Lunatone
  • Trapinch
  • Vibrava
  • Cacnea
  • Anorith
  • Lileep

Pokemon Go developer Niantic also recently announced the second Community Day event. The next Community Day will take place on February 24 from 10am UK time until 1pm GMT.

The three hour event will focus on Dratini, although it’s unclear what its exclusive move will be. Players will earn three times the amount of Stardust for the duration of the event, while Lures will last for all 3 hours.

If the first Community event is anything to go by, Dratini could get a Shiny variant. It’s also useful if you want to evolve your Dratini into Dragonair and the powerful Dragonite.
