Earthquake hits Japan: 6.4 magnitude tremor strikes near Honshu day after Alaska

The quake hit 103 km (64 miles) northeast of the island of the popular Honshu island, at a depth of 64 km (40 miles).

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties from the quake. 

It comes after Alaska was hit by 7.9 magnitude earthquake, which prompted tsunami warnings across the US coast.
