A statement by LG says: “At the moment Android 8 Oreo will appear on  LG V30 within the first quarter of the year, and on LG G6 indicatively within the first half of 2018.

“Check periodically this page and LG Newsroom  to know which other LG smartphones will receive Android 8.”

Along with a release date, LG has also revealed a list of new features that will be coming to its phones with Oreo.

To make matters worse for users of older Android software, which now makes it much easier to control and customise message notifications.

The new feature, which was spotted by Android Police, allows users of the popular app to choose what type of alerts they want to see depending on the message that’s been received.

For example, you could set an alert for single messages but switch off notifications for group chats.

Until now, Android users have only been able to have all notifications switched on or off by default, but this changes with the new version.

Here’s a list of some of the new notification that can be customised on WhatsApp:

Group notifications • Message notifications • Chat history backup • Critical app alerts • Failure notifications • Media playback.
