DAVOS LIVE: David Cameron lectures World Economic Forum ahead of May speech

Pictures of the former PM show him speaking alongside Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for the North Eastern Region of India and Swiss Federal President Alain Berset.

Mr Cameron, who resigned the next day after the nation turned against him and chose to leave the European Union, was reportedly paid tens of thousands to speak at a private dinner at last year’s event.

The former PM garnered some unlikely attention earlier this week after being spotted at Disneyland Paris in a distinctive flat cap.

After one eager tourist snapped his picture, he said: “Sam was doing clothing business stuff in Paris, so I took the kids over for mixture of the Picasso museum and Disney.

“It rained a lot so I bought a hat – I haven’t joined the Peaky Blinders, or become Bob Crow, just trying to stay warm and dry.”

The four-day summit will see about 2,500 of the planet’s most influential businesspeople and politicians gather to hash out the pressing geopolitical problems of the day.

However, the Swiss ski resort hosting hordes of the world’s super-rich has been struck by an early crisis after being hit by the most severe avalanche warning in 20 years.

Davos has been put on high alert after fresh snow smothered the Alps on the eve of the important gathering of business leaders, politicians and representatives from charities and non-government organisations.

A host of world leaders, including Theresa May, US President Donald Trump, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni are set to attend the four-day forum, which gathers some of the richest and most powerful people in the world all in one place.

But there are fears leaders could face difficulty getting around due to the snow.

The accumulation of snow is the highest the upmarket ski resort has seen since 1999 and authorities were last night forced to evacuate two dozen people from homes most at risk.
