Call of Duty WW2 Resistance UPDATE: New Event reveal and PS4 DLC news

While the big news is that the upcoming Call of Duty Resistance event will include new content, modes and weapons, there will also be a new update for the game.

Sledgehammer Games confirmed earlier this month that they had a few new patches lined up in January, some of which have releady been deployed.

And now Sledgehammer Studio co-founder Michael Condrey has provided more information on what’s coming next. This new COD WW2 update will include new console fixes, such as to the new spectator mode, as well as other changes for all platforms.

“The Sledgehammer Games channels will have the full details tomorrow once the update has gone live,” Condrey confirms.

“A few notable items include a console fix to the spectator bug, the addition of the emblem gallery feature, a tuning change to increase the speed of health regen, and of course, the new Resistance Division and new Resistance themed weapons, including the special weapon orders for directly earning them through match play (fwiw, the Volkssturmgewehr is one of my favorite ARs right now.)

“Prop Hunt, Demolition, Domination XL, HQ updates, and a host of other surprises are just around the corner.

“Also, we have heard your feedback on friendly shell-shock. Creatively, it makes sense that danger close concussions wouldn’t distinguish friend from foe in an explosion, and that led to a visceral WWII feel at launch.

“That said, we are exploring options to reduce or eliminate the impact during matches.

“We’ll update more on this as we get a better compass heading on the solution, but know that we are looking into ways to address this community feedback.”

Tuesday, January 23, is certainly going to be a busy days for Call of Duty fans, what with the new update and Resistance event.

Sledgehammer have not confirmed a set time for the new event to start, however, most are expecting the usual 6pm, GMT, launch.

The Resistance update ends five weeks later on February 27 and celebrates the release of next week’s Resistance DLC.

The latest update adds a new Division, new game modes, new items and playlists.

The Resistance event will be open to everyone and will include a range of new content to try out, including a brand-new Division.

Here’s more from Sledgehammer Games: “This Division focuses on the element of surprise and close-quarters combat.

“Once fully-leveled up, Resistance skills will include a Pistol Tactical Knife combo, the ability to scramble nearby enemy mini-maps, an additional pistol attachment, and a mini-map indicator in the direction of nearby hostiles.

“The Resistance Division also includes a new pistol, which can be used by all Divisions, the 9mm SAP pistol.”

New game modes are also being included, while the Gun Game mode will also be returning for the month of the event.

Demolition is a spin on Search & Destroy with respawns available. Faster-paced and more accessible, this classic favorite will return for two weeks during The Resistance.

Prop Hunt, the fan-favorite game mode, also makes its debut in Call of Duty: WWII, as players will have the opportunity to hide in plain site as objects, while the enemy team hunts them down.

The Resistance also signifies the return of Captain Butcher, bringing new gear, promotions and contracts to the game.

Sledgehammer have also confirmed that new weapons will drop with the big COD WW2 update, including a new assault rifle: the Volkssturmgewehr, the Orso: a new SMG, and a new melee weapon: the Combat Knife.

Players can also receive a free Resistance Supply Drop every week during The Resistance, simply by logging in.

Players can earn a total of five Resistance Supply Drop by logging in during each week of the event, and note that free Supply Drops do not carry over, so you must log in to redeem them each week.

Call of Duty WW2 fans on PS4 will soon see the release of the game’s first DLC map pack, which is being launched later this month.

Ahead of the add-on’s release date, Sledgehammer has previewed the game’s new maps, Nazi Zombies and more.

The developer has created three new Resistance themed maps, a brand new War Mode map and another Zombies adventure.

Valkyrie takes place in and around the bunker where resistance fighters unsuccessfully tried to assassinate Hitler.

Anthropoid, meanwhile, is set in Occupied Prague, and is said to feature a lot of height variation and narrow interiors. Occupation is a remake of a Modern Warfare 3 map.

Perhaps most exciting of all, Activision gave fans a look at the new War Mode adventure, titled Operation Intercept.

The first objective will revolve around the rescue of resistance fighters. Players must then capture radio equipment, before leading an attack on the Nazis.

As for Nazi Zombies, the new chapter is described as the most terrifying yet. The new map adds fog to the mix, which should result in a host of scary scenarios.
