Xbox One X games reveal, PS4 Pro boost and new elite controller news

Xbox One X games news of late has been dominated by reports on what new enhanced titles might be coming soon from Microsoft.

The tech giant is known to have fallen behind Sony’s PS4 Pro when it comes to exclusives in 2017, and fans are hungry to find out what will be coming next.

Some of these will come from first-party exclusives, while others will be launching from other big publishers.

It was recently announced that Monster Hunter World would be providing enhanced support for the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro.

This includes HDR support, improved frame rates and resolutions, which all sound pretty good for gamers.

It appears that a lot of this will come from a planned Day One patch being put together by Capcom.

Following the download, players should have access to enhanced graphics and performance modes for Playstation 4 Pro and Xbox One X.”

This means that Xbox One X and PS4 Pro users will be able to play the optimised version of Monster Hunter World on day one.

Fans will be able to choose from different modes that enhance the performance, resolution or graphics.

And that’s not the only big news confirmed this week, as Xbox One platform holder Microsoft has announced their plans to shake things up at this year’s E3 gaming expo.

E3 2018 doesn’t take place until June this year, but that hasn’t stopped Microsoft talking about its plans for the event.

Appearing on Larry ‘Major Nelson’ Hryb’s podcast, Xbox boss Phil Spencer told fans to expect “positive changes” at E3.

“I don’t think we’ve talked about yet, but I think will be some positive changes at E3,” Spencer revealed (via Gamespot). “Could be fun for us; it’ll be a nice change.”

It’s possible Microsoft will hold more public events, similar to the approach adopted by EA in recent years.

One game that could appear at Microsoft’s E3 press conference is Fable 4, which is reportedly in development.

Another big boost for the Xbox One X against the PS4 Pro this could also come from a new feature launching in 2018.

While Sony fans can pick up a PlayStation VR headset and enjoy an expanding range of new VR experiences, Microsoft’s “mixed Reality” has yet to debut.

However, some analysts believe that it won’t be a feature saved for Microsoft’s next console and could even arrive later this year.

IDC research analyst Lewis Ward recently told GamingBolt that he believes Microsoft are waiting for some great software to be in the pipes before they launch VR on Xbox One X.

He also believes that this feature will be launched on Xbox One X, touting that it could arrive by late 2018.

“Xbox One X will be able to do VR and AR, although Microsoft will wait to turn that feature on until there’s some great software for it – and that will largely be about Win10 PC app development,” Ward explained.

A new Xbox One Elite controller has also been leaked, meaning another big announcement for Microsoft at E3 2018.

New specs have popped up on the Reset Era gaming forum, with the original leak apparently stemming from China.

Pictures were also part of the new Elite Controller post, which will reportedly include these new features:

  • Rechargeable batteries, undetachable, MagSafe-like charge port
  • USB Type-C
  • Bluetooth for Windows 10
  • 3-level Hair Trigger locks
  • 3-Profile Switch
  • Longer key-travel for Paddles

These changes would certainly prove popular with PC gamers, with the current Elite controller design one of the most popular for the platform.

As you might imagine, these new Xbox leaks have not been verified and therefore should be taken with a big pinch of salt.
