Star Wars 8 The Last Jedi: You won’t BELIEVE what the final box office total will be

It’s been over a month since The Last Jedi was released and in just two weeks it became the highest grossing movie of 2017.

Now Forbes have predicted what the final global total for the follow-up to The Force Awakens will be.

The Last Jedi is already in the top 10 highest grossing movies of all time, but is expected to finish on around $1.326 billion.

This would push it up to eighth, ahead of the final Harry Potter film, Deathly Hallow Part 2.

In comparison The Force Awakens is the third highest grossing film ever, having made $2.068 billion.

Of course that film had the benefit of being the first Star Wars movie made in 10 years, while The Last Jedi is a direct sequel.

Meanwhile last year saw Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the first spin-off produced for the franchise, end on $1.056 billion – making it the 23rd biggest film globally.

Jimmy Wu, chairman of Chinese cinema chain Lumiere Pavilions said: “It’s performed much worse than we could have expected.”

Star Wars Episode IX will be released in UK cinemas on December 20, 2019.
