Overwatch news: Cosmetic update skins, sprays, icons REVEALED ahead of Blizzard World map

 developer Blizzard has unveiled some of the new skins that will appearing as part of next week’s cosmetic update.

Releasing alongside the Blizzard World map, the Overwatch update will add more than 100 new items on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

The new skins, player icons and sprays will be available in standard Loot boxes, and can also be purchased by spending cash in the Hero Gallery.

“We’re expanding our core cosmetics collection to include over 100 new items – including skins, sprays, player icons, emotes, and more – for all 26 heroes,” reads a Blizzard blog post.

“And, starting January 23, you’ll be able to earn these cosmetics in standard Loot Boxes as well as unlock them via the Hero Gallery all year round.”

Blizzard unveiled the first wave of new items at Blizzcon 2017, and plans to reveal more in the coming days.

“We’ve already announced a few of the items included in this update at BlizzCon 2017, but there’s so much more to share!” Blizzard continues.

“Leading up to the official release next week, we’ll be unveiling new cosmetics each day for the next six days.

“Be sure to visit this page daily for a first look at some of the newest collectibles coming soon.”

Perhaps even more exciting is the release of the new Blizzard World map on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

The Blizzard World Map is a brand new hybrid map that supports Assault and Escort game modes.

The theme park-style map pays homage to multiple Blizzard franchises, including StarCraft, Warcraft and Diablo.

“An amusement park celebrating the universes of Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo, Blizzard World is a brand-new hybrid Assault/Escort map,” Blizzard explains.

“Charge the gates of Stormwind, sneak through the Nexus Experience, and guide the payload through areas filled with high ground, flanking routes, and environmental hazards.

“Grab some Blizzard-inspired snacks at the concession stand along the way!”
