Prepare your beauty bag, because 2018 is bringing with it some surprisingly easy looks you’ll want to try.

Prepare your beauty bag, because 2018 is bringing with it some surprisingly easy looks you’ll want to try. Many of the year’s top trends are simplified tweaks of already in-vogue looks. (Think boy brows with second-story lashes, or multi-use lip tints for eyes, lips and cheeks).

We’ve combed through the clutter of beauty news, as well as consulted our friends at Pinterest, to find out which beauty and makeup trends we can expect to see in 2018.

Take a look below at the eight beauty trends you’ll want to try out this year:

1 Sky-high lashes

Boy brows were the eye-catching trend of 2017, and though they’re not going anywhere fast, next-level lashes will 2018’s trend to keep an eye on. From easy-to-use false lashes and highly rated drugstore mascaras, to eyelash serums that’ll make your lashes look like falsies, there’s a way out there to get the skyward lashes you want.

2 Cleansing oils

Unless you live inside a beauty vacuum, it probably seems like everyone you know has ditched her moisturizer in favor of facials oils. The trend will only continue in 2018, as more people learn that oils are actually super good for your skin (and an easy way to get Glossier-model dewy skin). Cleansing oils clean your skin without stripping it of the good oils that keep your face naturally moisturized.

A good introductory step to using cleansing oils is by initially removing your makeup with it. Follow it with a smaller amount of your favorite lightweight cleanser. The primary oil cleanser will strip fewer of the naturally good oils in your skin, and after a few uses you’ll likely notice softer, healthier, glowing skin. Eventually you’ll feel comfortable using just the cleansing oil for a gentler cleansing ritual.

3 Complexion-matching makeup

Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty line changed the way we think about makeup. In 2018, we can expect to say goodbye to the bare minimum of “Fair, Medium, Dark” foundation options, as more beauty brands embrace complexion-matching makeup. Fenty Beauty boasts an impressive 40 shades, and cult-favorite lipstick creator Nars carries up to at least 33 foundation shades

4 Geometric nail art

According to our friends at Pinterest, searches for “geometric nails” have increased at least 83 percent headed into 2018, which means you’re more likely to see manicures with clean-cut lines, geo shapes and nice use of negative space.

6 Derma rollers

At face value (pun intended) derma rollers, or microneedling, look like the beauty trend that we could probably live without. A typical derma roller contains hundreds of tiny needles that poke and prod the skin to stimulate collagen and elastin production.

Other versions of facial rollers ditch the needles and instead use crystals like jade to depuff sleepy skin. Either way, these tools are bound to stick around in 2018, as searches for “derma roller” have increased more than 340 percent on Pinterest this year.

Lip tints are expected to be the biggest beauty trend of 2018, according to our friends at Pinterest. Most lip tints are also formulated for cheeks and eyes, so get ready to make a some space in your makeup bag this year by ditching your single-use beauty products for multi-use ones.
