Pokemon Go news: Niantic’s new update has some secret Legendary gems included

The latest build of the game started rolling out yesterday, containing the usual range of bug fixes.

However, the real Pokemon Go news today is concerned with what Niantic haven’t listed.

As usual, dataminers have accessed the game’s master files to see just what else is being hidden.

Niantic usually keep a few things out of their patch notes, and this Pokemon Go update is no different.

One of the biggest changes is connected to the recently launched Kyogre Raids.

Fans have been complaining that the Legendary water-type is harder to catch, mainly because of its positioning.

Trainers have been finding it harder to land the best throws, missing out on the higher capture bonuses that they give.

So one big and very noticeable change is that Kyogre is now closer, and therefore, easier to catch.

Players have also found the Shiny Pokemon are now listed as such, making it easier to find your best and brightest Pocket Monsters.

Dataminers and users are also reporting that a lot of performance tweaks have been made to AR features, making it easier to use on iPhones.

Several unreleased Pokemon have also seen their moves updated, suggesting that the new wave of Gen 3 Pokemon could be launched soon.

This would make sense with the Community Day event arriving this weekend, although Niantic could also be saving it for further into the future.

The new update also comes with a brand new loading screen that may have revealed the next new Gen 3 Pokemon.

The new loading screen features a selection of Pokemon celebrating the start of 2018.

This includes previously unreleased Pokemon Loudred, which was one of the Pokemon to see a move update.

Niantic has also tackled swiping between screens, and added shiny icons to stop you accidentally transferring Pokemon.

Another nice touch is the way the game will now remember your last selected Pokeball from encounter to encounter.

It follows the new that Niantic are currently hosting another huge sale on Star Pieces and Premium Raid Passes.

In a bid to encourage Legendary Raids, fans can pick up Special, Great and Ultra Boxes from the in-game store.

“Prepare for your upcoming Raid Battles against Kyogre, Groudon, and other powerful Pokemon by purchasing special boxes containing Premium Raid Passes,” reads a Niantic tweet.

“Get them while you can in the in-game shop, as these boxes will only be available until January 22!”

The Special Box is available for 480 coins, and contains six Premium Raid passes, five lots of Incense and ten Pinap Berries.

The Great Box, meanwhile, costs 780 coins, and comes with nine Premium Raid passes, ten Star Pieces and ten Pinap Berries.

Fans can also spend 1480 coins on the Ultra Box, which comes with 20 Star Pieces and 15 Premium Raid Passes, as well as six Lucky Eggs and six Max Revive potions.
