Henrikh Mkhitaryan arrives at Man Utd training ground ahead of Alexis Sanchez swap deal

Mkhitaryan is set to join Arsenal as part of the Alexis Sanchez deal.

The Armenia star has held talks with Arsenal and is expected to complete his move today.

Sanchez is closing in on his move to Manchester United after signing off on a four-and-a—half-year deal at Old Trafford.

But Mkhitaryan has arrived at Carrington to report for training today.

He came in through the front entrance which is unusual for players with Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and co favouring the back way in.

It is not clear yet if Mkhitaryan will take part in training this afternoon or if he is there to say his goodbyes and collect his things ahead of the move.

Jose Mourinho is speaking to the media at 1.30pm and is expected to discuss the latest on the move.

United are hoping to seal the deal for Sanchez in time for him to make his debut tomorrow against Burnley – but he needs to be registered by midday today.

Arsenal face Crystal Palace but would also need Mkhitaryan registered by 12 to be eligible to play.

Sanchez will take the No 7 at Old Trafford and adidas have already started selling shirts with his name on in London.

Ed Woodward made signing an iconic superstar to wear the No 7 one of his priorities when he first joined the club and is finally getting his man.

United have also looked at Antoine Griezmann and Paulo Dybala but have swooped in to get Sanchez ahead of rivals Manchester City.

Sanchez has been training away from his Arsenal team-mates this week as they prepare to face Crystal Palace this weekend.

He missed out on their trip to Bournemouth on Sunday when the move took a huge step closer.

Wenger spoke about the deal further in his press conference yesterday.

He said: ”I’ve worked on transfers for 30 years, so it is likely to happen. It is now in the next 24 to 48 hours that it will happen or not.

“But at any moment, at any minute, things can break down. That’s how the transfer market is.

“As long as it’s not over the line, you have to accept that it can as well not happen. These kind of things are never guaranteed.”

But he was full of praise for Mkhitaryan and said paying his wages would not be a problem.

“My understanding is yes,” Wenger said of the swap deal. “The wages would not be a problem.

“Of course [I like him]. If it’s a possibility it’s because I like the player.

“We played many times against him when he was at Dortmund so he’s certainly appreciated the quality of our games and the way we play football so that’s why certainly he loves the club.

“This would be an exchange of players and I think one would replace the other. Are we still on the transfer market after that? Yes.”
