BREAKING: Fifty-two burnt alive as fire engulfs bus in Kazakhstan – arson suspected

The tragedy happened in Kazakhstan’s north-western Aktau region about six miles from the village of Kalybao and 200 miles from regional capital Aktobe.

The bus was believed to be carrying Uzbek migrant workers to or from Russia along the  1,370-mile  Samara-Shymkent highway.

The five survivors were treated at the scene by emergency workers.

Aktobe regional emergency situations department spokesman Aktilek Kenes said: “According to preliminary information, there were 57 people – all Uzbek citizens – on the bus and of them 52 passengers have died, while five managed to get out on their own.”

He said tghe two bus drivers were among those who died in the inferno.
