Batgirl: Lindsay Lohan hints ‘the past’ stops her being considered for Joss Whedon movie

The Mean Girls star was box office gold in the early 2000s but years of negative press coverage ultimately slowed down her A-list bookings.

Now, she has said that focus on the past is keeping her from a career renaissance.

“I don’t like when people always bring up and rehash the past. This is actually quite a long time ago if you think about it now,” she said on Wendy Williams’ US chatshow.

“And I would rather just stay focused on what I want to do next.”

She added: “Whenever people bring up the past, things I’ve experienced and gone through – jail and working at the morgue, which is actually really traumatizing stuff… I’ve learned my lessons.

“But then it distracts from actually maybe meeting with people to do Batgirl or maybe doing a Mean Girls 2.

“It really distracts people. They only think about the negative, and I don’t think that’s a way to move forward in life.”

She had also expressed interest in the role on Twitter – saying: “RT if I should star in the  new BATGIRL movie and everyone tell @joss.”

Lohan also recently said on social media that she would be interested in joining a new season of The Comeback with Lisa Kudrow.

“That’s interesting…,” Kudrow replied.

A new Batgirl film was announced in March 2017, to have Joss Whedon at the helm.
