Avengers Infinity War: Chris Hemsworth reveals why he almost TURNED DOWN Thor

The Aussie star has been playing the Asgardian prince since 2011’s Thor and has since appeared in two more solo movies and two Avengers outings.

Now with ‘s Avengers Infinity War and Avengers 4 on the horizon, Hemsworth has admitted how he almost turned down the role in the first place.

Appearing on The Tonight Show, to promote his new movie 12 Strong, he explained his original reservations to Jimmy Fallon.

The actor said: “I might have had a hesitation y’know and I kinda wanna get a time machine and slap that younger, pretentious version of myself.”

Fallon asked: “Were you just of afraid of like…’I don’t want to be typecast as Thor’.

Hemsworth responded: “Yeah, I was trying to be an artist, [I was like], ‘I’m trying to do independent films, this is too big and its a franchise.’

“No, I love, love that character and I’ve loved this experience. I think my hesitation was…I had no idea what it was going to be, if it was going to be a good experience or bad.

“Thankfully it was the best experience I’ve ever had. We’ve just wrapped Avengers 4, so that’s kind of it now. Most of us have kinda finished there.”

He said: “This is one of the biggest things in film history and to be a part of it was just incredible.

“I think what these characters are about to face — with Thanos — there’s been nothing quite like it.

“There are 76 cast members or something like that. I think what people are going to be excited about is what I was excited about and that’s Thor meeting the Guardians and Iron Man meeting Doctor Strange.”

Avengers Infinity War is released in UK cinemas on April 27, 2018.
