Xbox One Backwards Compatibility UPDATE: Three new games confirmed for release

While there haven’t been many big announcements for a while, Microsoft have finally revealed their first batch of Xbox One Backwards Compatibility games in 2018.

Getting off to a strong start, Xbox’s Larry Hyrb revealed three new Xbox 360 games that would be made playable today.

Sniper Elite V2, Far Cry 2 and Driver San Francisco should now all available as part of the Backwards Compatible library.

That means fans should be able to either download them as part of their existing library, or add it with an existing Xbox 360 disc.

Sniper Elite V2 is the most-wanted for of the three, according to the official Backwards Compatibility website, which includes fans votes on which games to include.

Over 13,000 people voted for Sniper Elite V2, more than 12,000 for Far Cry 2 and just under 5,000 for Driver San Francisco.

Microsoft usually launch new BC games on Tuesdays and Thursdays of each week, meaning that more could be on the way later this week.

The tech giant don’t usually give prior warning to what they are planning to add, so fans will have to wait and see what, if anything, pops up.

And while Microsoft have yet to confirm what other new games will be released in 2018, there’s one new item that might catch the eye of fans.

Hyperkin have released a big new update on the price and release window of their Xbox “Duke” controller recreation.

Perfect for playing classic titles on, The Duke will be returning at the end of March and will retail for around $69.99.

Hyperkin have already confirmed that it will be a limited release, meaning there going to sell out fast.

Original Xbox designer Seamus Blackley is behind the re-release, which has the full blessing of Microsoft to move forward.

Speaking to CNET, Blackley shared his thoughts on the return of the monster-pad, which will also be compatible for PC use.

“I don’t know a lot of brands that would rerelease an unpopular product from the past . . . and Phil [Spencer], I think correctly understands that it sends a message,” he revealed.

“He understands that it sends a message about how serious Xbox is about its heritage, and about the fans.”

While most of the biggest titles have already been released for the BC library, there’s still plenty of scope left for improvements.

Xbox 360 games that get additional Xbox One X enhancements is one interesting avenue for Microsoft to explore.

Putting together new titles to play on the Xbox One X, to go with existing games like Fallout 3, would create intriguing new Games with Gold combos.
